The Maronite Patriarchal Synod 2006 encouraged the eparchies and parishes to renew their ecclesiastical life and to confirm the unity of the Maronite church in the patriarchal territory and in the countries of expansion. The ‘Maronite Centre for Research & Strategic Studies’ is a long-term project launched by Fr. Antoine Tarabay as a response to the work of the Synod.
The centre aims at:
1- Connecting with the Maronites in Australia, Lebanon and other countries
2- Conducting a census to collect data and statistics about the current Maronite parishioners within Australia
3- Organising talks and seminars about topics of interest for the Maronites
4- Opening a public library providing books and resources about the Maronite history, liturgy and achievements
5- Liaising with other Maronite organisations in Australia and the world such as the Maronite Foundation
The opening of the centre took place on the 26th of April, 2011 in the presence of His Excellency Bishop Mounjed Al Hachem and the blessings of His Excellency Bishop Ad Abikaram, Maronite Bishop of Australia. In the inaugural conference for the centre, Bishop Hachem stressed upon the presence of the Maronites in the Middle East and how the Maronites all around the world support them.
St. Charbel’s Parish Census is the first project that the centre is taking on board. It is an initiative taken to facilitate the communication between the parish and the parishioners.
Please fill in the census form attached if you are of the Maronite Catholic Faith. All the information collected from the census will be treated with utmost respect and confidentiality.
Stay tuned for more information about the centre on this page and for upcoming events.
